Messer acquires EKU Elektronik and strengthens its position as a solution provider in the pharmaceutical industry
Bad Soden/Leiningen, 07.05.2024
Messer, the world's largest privately owned specialist for industrial, medical and specialty gases, has signed an agreement to acquire EKU Elektronik GmbH. EKU specializes in the development and production of electronic products in the fields of ventilation, anesthesia, gas therapy and medical measurement technology. “The acquisition of EKU supports our goal of also becoming an independent provider of complete solutions in the field of NO therapy,” explains Adolf Walth, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing Europe at Messer.
Until now, Messer has focused on the production of nitric oxide (NO) as a medicinal product. This takes place for the European market in Austria. The acquisition of EKU means that dosing devices for NO therapies can now also be produced and marketed. Messer will supplement its own distribution channels with EKU's existing network. This will enable the company to offer its complete solutions internationally in the healthcare sector.
It is intended that Matthias Thiele, Senior Vice President Medical, Pharma & Food Gases at Messer, will take over the management of the company on an interim basis until a permanent successor is found.
